The venue was the beautifully situated No. 7 Reservoir in Kangaroo Flat. Over 40 people joined in to walk around the reservoir, stopping at intervals for speakers from five faith traditions – Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism – to share and pray about the significance of water in each of their faiths.
The Christian contribution was led by Sandhurst Diocese Vicar General, Fr Brian Boyle. A water ritual followed. Each person was given a small glass filled with blue water. On the table was a bowl of clear water but as each person poured in their little glassful, the water turned a deeper and deeper blue. A moment of reflection, as each of us did this, reminded us that each person’s small contribution can change the situation – a pertinent metaphor for caring for creation, which can seem like an overwhelming task.
A shared afternoon tea completed what was a most interesting, faith-filled, inspiring and enjoyable event.
