Sandhurst Youth Ministry Partnership Consultation

By Jessan Tano

Following the first session in Bendigo, Sandhurst Youth Ministry continued its Partnership Consultation series in Echuca and surrounding areas on 6 May, and Shepparton and surrounds on 15 May. These gatherings brought together school leaders, parish representatives, clergy and young people to share ideas, listen to one another, and discuss ways to better support young people in their faith.

Dr Chris Cotter, Director of Mission and Pastoral Life, presented 'Mentoring young people: the art of accompaniment', proposing a model of walking alongside young people through their faith journey from Encounter to Intentional Discipleship.

With participants coming from diverse communities, cultures and traditions, each session became a rich space of listening and learning, where differences were respected, and a shared mission began to take shape. Together, we created space for honest conversations, fresh insights and a deeper sense of unity across the Diocese.

These consultations are part of our commitment to reach every corner of the Diocese, meeting people where they are in their schools and parishes. By working in partnership and embracing the richness of our diverse communities, we aim to support young people as they grow in faith, find a sense of belonging, and step into leadership as disciples of Christ.

The final session of this series will take place in Wangaratta and the surrounding areas on 28 May, as we continue this journey together and shape the future of Youth Ministry across Sandhurst Diocese.
